In today's economy we need every advantage to bring in those new customers and we need to be purposed in our methods to keep them coming back. We have always highly recommended that businesses use social media and email marketing to keep customers coming back, but how can we guarantee a steady flow of new business? What would give a small business the edge to get that new customer in the first place? How could an unknown make a new client so happy that they could not help but to tell all of their friends? When every dollar is measured out how can we convince them to take a chance on us?
Bartering may be the answer that we are looking for. If we had a small business with cash flow problems we may be able to network with other small businesses willing to trade for products and services.
If we are offering a service and we barter with someone who has something that we need it costs us only our time. If we are already too busy maybe that has no value to us, but if we are not completely booked up we just earned a new client that loves us. If our work has slowed down for a season this is a valuable method that will help keep the calendar booked and bring in more new leads as they recommend us. It gets us in the door because we made a compelling offer that nobody else did and the next time they need our service they are coming to us! When they have a friend looking for our service they are recommending us!
If we are offering a product we can now trade it at full value. Years ago I met a senior lady who had funded her whole retirement on this concept. She handled a variety of products from about 6 different multi-level companies. She bought them at wholesale and then traded them for retail on services that she needed. She was getting her hair done for 30% off, and her cleaning and gardening was 50% off. She continually made a point of asking and then choosing to do business with those who chose to do business with her.
Bartering broadens our market appeal and it stimulates new business. We were not going to be doing business with that company and we did not even know them, but suddenly we are doing business with them. We are an advocate for them and they are now an advocate for us.
The level of customer service is also increased. They would not dare do a poor job and neither would we. Both are locked into a sweet deal delivering the best and expecting the best. Care and attention is now given to details. We are personally involved. We do a great job and we receive a great job. As their new advocate we will have nothing but great things to say about them and they feel the same way about us! barter advertising
