I’m a 21 year old Web Systems Development Graduate from the small town of Skelmersdale in the northwest of England. From the first moment i touched a computer i was fascinated by both the hardware and the software aspects. By year 5/6 of primary school i was teaching other pupils (and sometimes teachers) to use them, and after being bought my first computer aged 11 i spent every available minute learning and advancing my knowledge. By 13 i’d had my computer taken apart and stripped back to the bare bones more times than i can remember, and was often fixing and upgrading family and friends computers.

At around the age of 14, through the use of myspace, i was introduced to HTML. Initially, i was simply using HTML to rearrange my ‘profile’, however I later realised the power of HTML when combined with CSS and continued to further modify the ‘profile’ page, often completely overhauling the page to make it look and function like a website

Throughout high school i continued to learn more and more about the web. Expanding my knowledge of HTML and CSS by creating small websites at every opportunity, none of which ever made it online. It was during my first year of college when i acquired my first web hosting and was able to experiment with PHP and mySQL for the first time. This was initally started by hosting free content management systems such as Joomla, Drupal and WordPress, but continued when i took apart these systems to see how they functioned and started to create my own PHP based content management systems. I continued this through to Edge Hill University where i achieved a 2: 2 in Web Systems Development, gaining many new skills along the way such as learning JavaScript, Flash and an in depth knowledge of various programs within the Adobe Creative Suite.

At the moment I am looking to further my skills, with the hope of learning a PHP composition and hunting more deeply in the discipline of Search engine optimisation while this can be an issue that features often curious us. I do think it is significant to remain to develop my knowledge but not turn into simply satisfied.
